Get to know us!

Thank you for exploring the option of karate for your child, or for yourself. We have seen this art bring much good to kids and adults alike, and we can't help but be excited for you!

Karate is known to be a great way to develop focus, confidence, respect for yourself and respect for others. For kids it also provides a great outlet for their energy, and gives them something a little different to call their own. And at Triple Arts, we know it will introduce them to some fantastic kids!

Here is some basic information to get you acquainted with us.

Students can begin at any time......

Everyone progresses at their own pace, so there isn't a group starting on one specific day. During the six week promotion you may come as often as your class is offered, where space is available. Some kids start out once a week, and some jump right in for more. At the end of the six weeks you will choose a monthly membership that suits you. The two options are to come once a week, or to choose an open membership where you can come as often as we offer. Membership fees and class schedules are posted on the web site.

It's time for your first class.....

Wear comfy clothes to your first class, and we will fit you for a gi (uniform) at the time of registration. If we don't have your size in stock, we will do our best to have it for you within a week, two at most. The six week promotion includes lessons for six weeks and the gi and belt. Please bring a non-breakable water bottle to each class. Karate is done in bare feet.

How karate came to this little town....

Triple Arts Academy began its journey in Cambridge, Ontario. The owners of the Cambridge location helped my family to open and run the Bright location in the fall of 2013. Our membership is currently just over 100 students, and combined with the Cambridge location we have close to 300 students. Bright location has run since 2013 out of the lower level of North Blenheim Mutual Insurance Company, but as of Fall 2018 we are making a big move across the street. Our newly renovated space will consist of 2700 square feet to incorporate a bigger reception area, a bigger dojo, and all new to Bright location - a Dance Studio!

But you came here to talk karate.... Our style of karate is Goju Ryu, and we are members of the IOGKF (International Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Federation). We are very proud to train under Sensei Colin Arnold and Miss Madelaine Massey, and under their Sensei, Tetsuji Nakamura. To have a lineage of instructors so close to the root of Goju Ryu is truly an honor. As such there is a lot of tradition in our Dojo, even in the smallest kids classes, but not at the expense of fun!

The details: payments and missed classes....

Initial payment for new members can be made by cheque, cash, email transfer or pre-authorized debit. Monthly fees can be made by post dated cheque or pre-authorized debit.

A makeup class is scheduled during the last week of every month. You don't need to pre-arrange it; just come out if you missed a class this month.
